|Isaac Success will look to make of for missing the action during the Under-17 victory in 2013|
As expected Coach Garba Manu and his crew have put together a good mixture of experience, talent and grit in the Flying Eagles team for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The team is well covered in goal by including the likes of Dele Alampasu and Joshua Enaholo. Success Isaac, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon will definitely strengthen the attack, like Wilfred Ndidi should the defence. The two Ifeanyis were impressive in Senegal during the African Youth Championship, and Chidiebere Nwakali, Kingley Sokari and Musa Yahaya will add more experience to the midfield.
I am however concerned about the (seeming lack of personnel in) defence. The team seems short-staffed at the back with inclusion of only two natural wing backs meaning the lack of a natural supporting left-back (since Nwakali can deputize for Muhammed at right back if need be).
Other than this, I have a good feeling about the team going very far in New Zealand because of the stiff competition for places therein. I hope the coaches can carve out a winning combination which will synergize early on. Also, every form of complacency, over-confidence or pressure, should be obliterated from the minds and attitudes of the players.
Good luck to the team!
